Founded in 1888, Widd Signs is credited as being one of the original signage companies. The same founding values that made us an instant success in the 19th Century run through the business today; innovation, design, excellence and honesty.
Now in the 21st Century, we are also committed to sustainability as a guiding principle within our work.
Concern for the environment is an integral and fundamental part of this commitment.
Our aim is to reduce the impact on the environment from our operations and to date we’ve done this in several ways:
- Investing in solar power with panels on both our Leeds and St Helens manufacturing facilities
- Upgrading our fleet of vehicles to electric and hybrid vehicles to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels
- New windows and insulation at both sites to improve our energy efficiency
- Changing the way we purchase and deliver our goods to reduce the carbon footprint of your signage
- Working with our partners towards zero landfill targets
- Investing in new machinery and processes to cut waste and reduce our dependence on virgin plastics wherever possible.

And we don’t stop there, we also offer our clients a variety of sustainable applications including:

For example, we can create your signage on sustainable materials including Opaque Polypropylene board which is fully recyclable with up to 50% recycled content.
Its smooth surface and excellent strength-to-weight ratio make it ideal for either direct print or vinyl applications making it a great replacement for PVC foam.
A wide variety of acrylics are also now available with a high percentage of recycled content.
